My name is Tim Brampton and I have very recently been appointed as your new Priest. Both my wife, Chris, and myself are deeply thrilled and we are looking forward with great joy and anticipation to being with you at St Martin of Tours, Basildon, soon.

I am currently Vicar of St Mark’s Church in Marks Gate, which is part of The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

A short-potted history of ourselves – After leaving school, I went into the Royal Navy and served as a medic and nurse in various roles for almost 22 years. After leaving, I retrained and qualified as a Community and Youth worker and subsequently as a youth work manager working in Plymouth and then Lancashire.  I was CEO of Preston YMCA.  I trained for Ministry at The College of The Resurrection, Mirfield, West Yorkshire and served my Curacy at the Parish of Standish, St Wilfridin Blackburn Diocese.

I met Chris, who was training to be a Naval Nurse in 1978 and we married in 1980.  Chris is now a primary teacher working in an inner-city school in Whitechapel.  We have two daughters both of whom are married Ruth is married to Tony and they have 3 boys – Billy, James and Robin. Hannah (who lives in Laindon) is married to Steve and they have a new-born son called Finn, born on 30th April.

We have an adorable Border Collie dog called Maisie, who loves everyone and I’m sure that you will all get to know her. She is certainly looking forward to having a real garden to relax in.

It is anticipated that we will move into The Rectory during the second half of August (date still to be determined) and the date for my Licensing and Installation is set for Tuesday 17th September.

Please hold us in your prayers as we begin the process of packing up and moving, but above all preparing ourselves for the work that God has called us to, as you all at St Martin’s and in Basildon will be in our thoughts and prayers.
